Friday, May 24th, is Mary, Help of Christians, the Abbey’s patronal feast day. This year, it is also the community’s celebration of Br. Paul’s golden jubilee of 50 years of profession. At Mass he will renew his vows and be presented with a cane. All are welcome to join us to celebrate our patroness and commend Br. Paul for his years of service.
There will be further celebration of Br. Paul’s jubilee at the Abbey during homecoming week.
Because the Annunciation of the Lord (March 25) and the Anniversary of the Dedication of the Abbey Basilica (March 28) fell during Holy Week this year, they were transferred to Monday and Tuesday respectively of the second week of Easter.
On Monday, 4/8, Mass and Office of the Annunciation will be celebrated. On Tuesday, 4/9, Mass and Office will be the commemoration of the Basilica’s dedication. Tuesday will have Solemn Vespers.
New LED lights will be installed in the Basilica on March 8th and 9th (Friday and Saturday). Mass and Office will not be publicly celebrated on those days.
We hope these lights will enhance the liturgical function of the Basilica for years to come.

Passing of Benedict, March 21: Conventual Mass moved to 10:30 AM.
Palm Sunday: Mass begins at 10:45 AM.
Easter Monday, April 1: No public celebration of Vespers or Compline.
Saturday, May 11: Belmont Abbey College graduation; Conventual Mass replaced by 9:30 AM Baccalaureate Mass.
Monday, April 1: 7 AM Vigil, 8 AM Lauds, 8:30 AM Mass, no afternoon or evening offices.
Mass for the Solemnity of the Passing of Our Holy Father Benedict, March 21st, will be held at 10:30 AM in the Abbey Basilica.
While the primary celebration of St. Benedict in most dioceses is July 11, the American-Cassinese Congregation petitioned the Sacred Congregation of Rites to celebrate their patronal feast during March to enable students at its educational institutes to be present. Members of our college community are invited to take advantage of this rescript and join us to commemorate the Patriarch of Western Monasticism.
